Controversial electronic games that are the subject of a recent court decision would be outlawed under a proposal offered by the Senate, as lawmakers begin to hash out differences over gambling plans with less than two weeks before the legislative session is slated to end.

In their first substantive meeting since the House and Senate passed diametrically opposed approaches to the gambling issue, negotiators acknowledged that the clock is ticking but remained upbeat about trying to bridge what appears to be an ideological divide, as pressure mounts from recent and impending court decisions and a looming constitutional amendment.
