It should come as no surprise that H-1B visas have been used up — yet again. If nothing changes, this is likely to be repeated next year. As a result, employers and foreign workers alike will be scrambling to find employment alternatives, but there are options for some of those who plan ahead.

Foreign nationals use H-1B visas to work in jobs that require a baccalaureate or higher degree. With the bachelor’s degree cap of 65,000, and the U.S. master’s degree cap of 20,000, a quota of 85,000 H-1B visas is made available on Oct. 1 each year on a first come, first served basis.
