GEICO General Insurance Co. was ordered to pay $9.6 million after a Palm Beach jury found the company didn’t fulfill its duty to help a policyholder settle a claim after a fatal accident.
The Oct. 23 verdict came nine years after James Harvey first contacted the insurance company just after crashing his Hummer and killing motorcyclist John Potts.
