Alan Dershowitz and lawyers opposing him in a defamation lawsuit are trading settlement offers as tactical moves in a case tied to the underage sex scandal of onetime Palm Beach billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.

In a defamation case filed by a Fort Lauderdale lawyer and a Utah law professor, Dershowitz is pursuing a counterclaim over allegations that he participated in the criminal conduct of his client, Epstein. The registered sex offender pleaded guilty to soliciting minors for prostitution and served 13 months in state prison.
