Businesses could deduct investments immediately and families would have a new $2,500 tax credit per child under a tax proposal by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate.

The plan would cut the tax rate on business income to 25 percent and the top income tax for individuals to 35 percent from 39.6 percent, according to a summary released Wednesday by Rubio and Sen. Mike Lee, a Utah Republican.
