If not for music, Miami-Dade County Court Judge Wendell Graham might not have been the first black student at Ransom Everglades School, he might not have met Circuit Judge Eric Hendon until they had grown up, and he might not have become lifelong friends with County Court Judge Andrew Hague.

Born in Nashville, Graham moved to Miami’s Overtown neighborhood as a baby after his parents divorced. In elementary school, his mother enrolled him at Ruth Greenfield’s groundbreaking Fine Arts Conservatory. It was a rare integrated oasis in segregated Miami.
