Passing Down The Law Firm’s Reins
On Richard Rosenbaum’s first day as CEO at Greenberg Traurig in 2010, he started talking about who his own successor would be. Succession planning for law firms and their clients is vital to ensure continued operations when a founding partner dies. However, some small firms refuse to talk about a change in control.

Akerman Still Tops Among Florida’s Biggest Firms
Akerman, Greenberg Traurig and Holland & Knight remained the top three law firms in numbers of attorneys in 2014 based on the Review 100 annual survey of Florida’s top law firms.

The Charts:
The Daily Business Review surveyed firms with a major Florida presence. Not all firms disclosed data. For purposes of uniformity, gross revenue represents legal fees billed and collected in a firm’s calendar year. It does not include disbursements or soft costs. National firms are included if they generated substantial revenue in Florida. Dollar figures are from the latest calendar year. Profit per equity partner is an average. The amounts do not reflect sums distributed to partners. Some partners may receive far less, while other partners may well exceed the average. When calculating revenue per lawyer, of counsel lawyers are counted with associates as salaried employees whose compensation is an element of overhead costs. Leverage is lawyers divided by equity partners.
