The Courts
Fla. electronic court filing standards set

July 02, 2009 By: The Associated Press

Peggy Quince

lorida Supreme Court Chief Justice Peggy Quince has adopted statewide standards for implementing an electronic court filing system.

Quince issued an administrative order Wednesday to comply with a new law that requires court clerks throughout Florida to implement electronic filing by Oct. 1.

The standards cover everything from the size of electronic type that must be used to computer security requirements.

Quince wrote in her order that moving from a paper-based to digital record system is a "fundamental change" in the internal operations of Florida's courts.

But she added that care must be taken to make sure the transformation is done in "a deliberate and responsible manner."
