Zaha Hadid, an internationally prominent architect, has been signed to design a residential tower in downtown Miami.
The tower will be built on a Biscayne Boulevard parcel now occupied by a BP gas station.
Hadid, who was born in Iraq and now lives in London, was hired by 1000 Biscayne Tower LLC, an investment group managed by developers Gregg Covin and Louis Birdman.
Located across from Museum Park, the tower is planned to be a centerpiece to an area known as the "Biscayne Wall." Details of the project will be disclosed early next year.
