Court finds French shoemaker Louboutin's red soles are entitled to trademark protection

A federal appeals court ruled the distinctive red soles of Christian Louboutin shoes are entitled to trademark protection, but competitor Yves Saint Laurent will still be able to make red shoes with red soles.
