A jury decided a hotel was not liable for a finger injury suffered by a guest who tried to fix a toilet.

Walkiria Soberon, then 36, said she noticed the flushing mechanism was not working in her room at the Shelborne Ocean Beach Hotel in Miami Beach. She attempted to fix it by lifting the lid off the tank and reattaching the flushing mechanism. She claimed she lacerated her finger on the mechanism because the hotel had allowed the porcelain inside the tank to become jagged and chipped.
