I had thought that journalism was "news reports presented factually without analysis." I have read many of Mr. Pacenti's articles and learned from them, but why now has he strayed from being the Veteran Journalist billed on the Bios page. Are reporters’ personal viewpoints news? Is his rant worthy investigative reporting, like uncovering abuse of detainees? We count on journalists to view events and report them without comment, so that we, the reader, may trust what is reported to us, and make our own decisions. Reporters are supposed to be our eyes and ears, not our brains. Can we now ever trust what Mr. Pacenti has to report back to us concerning this case, or anything "gun culture" related? A journalist simply cannot be an opinion writer and vice versa.
