Visitors are continuing to bolster South Florida’s economy. Hospitality and related industries are likely to remain solid foundations of area employment during 2012. A new round of tourism-related real estate investment may take longer to build, however.

Among positive signs are higher room rates at South Florida hotels, a good winter-season omen not only for the hospitality industry but also for the area’s entire economy, which is more diversified than ever but still shifts direction depending on tourist traffic.
